Pennsylvania NRCS Programs
NRCS's natural resources conservation programs help people reduce soil
erosion, enhance water supplies, improve water quality, increase wildlife
habitat, and reduce damages caused by floods and other natural disasters. Public
benefits include enhanced natural resources that help sustain agricultural
productivity and environmental quality while supporting continued economic
development, recreation, and scenic beauty.
CURRENT PROGRAM NEWS
Information on 2007 1099 forms
Each January, the National Finance Center (NFC) sends out tax reporting
information to NRCS customers for their calendar year payments. That
information is now being sent to program participants. Internal Revenue
Service (IRS) Form 1099’s are generated for all payments issued to NRCS
program participants.
NRCS employees are not permitted to give out advice or make
recommendations on tax questions. It is the participant’s responsibility
to seek the help of a competent tax advisor to determine how to report
their program payments or to get answers to other tax questions.
Please note that the last program payment processed by NRCS in 2007 that
will credited to calendar year 2007, for purposes of being included on
1099 forms for 2007, will be dated on December 27, 2007. Payments that
are designated as 1099 reportable as of this date will be considered for
2007 calendar year 1099 reporting.
The last 1099 forms for 2007 were issued on January 28, 2008. If a
recipient has not received their 1099 by February 9, 2008, please
contact your local NRCS office.
Applying for 2009 Conservation Programs
Applications for AMA, EQIP, WHIP and WRP are accepted by NRCS on a
continuous basis throughout the year with periodic cutoff dates to
evaluate, rank, and prioritize applicants. Review of applications for
Fiscal Year 2009 funding requests will begin at the end of August 2008
and will continue on a monthly cycle as long as funds are available.
Because of large demand, funds are usually expended after one or two
ranking cycles. Applications may be submitted in person, scanned and
e-mailed (must include signature), FAXed or mailed to their local USDA
Service Centers. Application forms are available at your local USDA
Service Center or from our Pennsylvania NRCS website. There is no due
date to apply but people are encouraged to apply early to increase
likelihood of being offered a contract. Financial assistance eligibility
is contingent on not starting the practice before having a signed and
approved contract.
